Silicon Alley Tennis Invitational
A day of doubles, drills, and dinner on the Har-Tru courts of Ardsley Country Club.
Greetings!
Welcome to the eleventh annual Silicon Alley Tennis Invitational, organized by Silicon Alley Sports. We have secured the Ardsley Country Club, a fantastic club with beautiful courts and breathtaking views. Our event will feature a lineup of Silicon Alley venture capitalists, executives, and founders who will come together for a day of tennis and fun. This page is your guide to the day's activities, what to expect, and any additional questions you may have.
Please keep in mind that the Silicon Alley Tennis Invitational is a labor of love for SAS. We do not make any money from hosting this event — any remaining funds at the end of the sports year are donated to charity. With nearly two decades of experience hosting the Silicon Alley Golf Invitational, we have become quite adept at organizing successful events. If there are minor hiccups, go with the flow and enjoy the day. And please read our “Don't Be a Dick” policy below before attending — it's the most important section on this page.

Attire (ACC policy)
Any color tennis clothing — all white not required. Men: any color shirt with a collar. No cotton t-shirts or crop tops. Women: leggings OK with a skirt over them; no collar required. Tennis shoes required.
Getting there
We will be hosted by the Ardsley Country Club, an exclusive members-only club in the River Towns of Westchester, right along the Hudson River. The club was established in 1895, has 9 Har-Tru tennis courts, and has hosted the last five Silicon Alley Tennis Invitationals.
We will be at the tennis courts the entire time. Please park by the courts and the surrounding neighborhood.
GPS & parking
Use 100 Ardsley Avenue West, Irvington, NY. Drive down the hill, past the train station, and park anywhere over there — the courts will be up on the left side. You can also park on Clinton Ave.
ACC is about 30 miles from Midtown Manhattan; Google Maps says 38–45 minutes. Please do your own diligence and don't just assume it'll take 45 minutes.
Prefer the train? Take Metro-North to the Ardsley-on-Hudson, NY station and walk 2 minutes up the hill to the tennis courts.

Attire
We are playing at a private tennis club, so attire rules must be adhered to. You must wear proper tennis clothes — and collared shirts are required for men. Colors are OK. Tennis shoes are required.
Want to pick up some tennis clothes? We always find Tennis Warehouse or Midwest Sports to be pretty awesome. There is also a pro shop at ACC, but we can't guarantee they'll have the selection or size you need.
Any attire is fine for the awards and dinner — you do not have to change out of your tennis attire, and most people don't. Showers are available at the tennis courts (note: 1 shower for men, 1 for women).
Courts & facilities
Courts: all surfaces are Har-Tru. If you don't know what that means, it's essentially the green sandy stuff that some American courts call “clay.”
Lockers & restrooms: ACC has recently updated facilities at the tennis courts. There is a locker room with restrooms, changing space, and showers — but it's on the small side.
Towels & beverages: we provide all towels and beverages on the court, but feel free to bring your own water bottle.
Tournament
You will be paired with a partner (mixed pairings — M/M, M/F, F/F) for each match, and you'll rotate partners after each match. We count the number of games you win, and the top 4 highest game-winners play in the finals.
Clinics & contests
We will break everyone into groups and run professionally led clinics for the first 45 minutes of the event, then break into contests. You will certainly be warmed up by the time the tournament begins!
Food
We will host dinner at the tennis courts after the tournament, with a selection of food for a variety of dietary requirements.
Our Don't Be a Dick policy
We are all coming to the Silicon Alley Sports event because we want to have a good time and network with each other outside of Manhattan. We've hand-picked every single attendee and know everyone.
My ask to everyone is to be open, say hi to people, introduce yourselves, and don't be a dick or asshole. There will be players better than you. There will be players worse than you. Have fun.
In this tournament, smiles and laughter are more important than the number of aces you hit. If someone is alone, go over and offer a beverage. Everyone is here because they make Silicon Alley happen — and you probably want to know them.
Parking
You may park anywhere around the courts or the surrounding neighborhood. With 30+ cars coming, expect to park around the (beautiful) neighborhood and walk down to the courts. The courts share their parking spaces with the town train station.
